The Black Storm Clownfish is a unique designer breed that originated from a natural mutation discovered during the selective breeding process. The Captive-Bred version of this fish showcases a striking white body pattern, with a predominantly white face adorned with black eyes. This characteristic “panda pattern” is enhanced by stunning black markings that appear in a variety of random patterns, making each specimen truly one-of-a-kind.
The Black Storm Clownfish thrives in a 20-gallon or larger aquarium with ample live rock. It can form a symbiotic bond with several types of anemones, such as Carpet (Stichodactyla sp.), Sebae (Heteractis crispa), Bulb (Entacmaea quadricolor), or Ritteri (Heteractis magnifica). While not necessary for its well-being, if you choose to house an anemone, ensure that your aquarium and lighting system can sustain its needs.
Black Storm Clownfish offers many advantages over wild-harvested species. Not only are they incredibly resilient, but they are also better adapted to thrive in a home aquarium setting. This makes them an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists. Additionally, the Black Storm Clownfish can coexist with other captive-bred clownfish when introduced to the aquarium simultaneously, providing even more options for a diverse and thriving aquarium.
The omnivorous Black Storm Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris var.) requires a varied diet consisting of both meaty and green foods. It readily accepts a high-quality marine flake food with spirulina algae, as well as freeze-dried and frozen options.
