Discovered in August 2006, the Galaxy Rasbora (Danio margaritatus) is at risk of extinction in the wild due to over collecting. However, through successful breeding in captivity, this species is now able to thrive and should only be purchased with the intention to breed. While their reproduction is not well understood, it is known that they are egglayers and will consume any eggs or fry they come across. To breed, utilize a breeding mop or vegetation, such as java moss. Keep in mind that the eggs are only minimally adhesive and may not stick to the moss or mop when removed for transfer to a fry tank.
