The Niger Trigger or Redtooth Trigger is a visually stunning addition to any home aquarium. Its coloration is unique, with shades of purple, blue, and blue/green, often highlighted by a striking lighter blue on its fins and long tail lobes. The color of this magnificent fish can even change depending on the lighting in the tank. As an adult, the Niger Triggerfish boasts bright red teeth and a dark purple body with a blue/green hue around its face, making it a fascinating sight during mealtime. This species requires a spacious 180 gallon or larger tank with plenty of rocky hiding spots, as it loves to rearrange its scenery. Don’t be surprised if you hear it “grunt” from time to time! For the best care, feed this active fish a varied diet of meaty foods such as squid, krill, clams, small fish, and shrimp with hard shells to help maintain its ever-growing teeth.
