The visually appealing Banded Coral Shrimp features striking red and white bands across its body and lengthy pinchers and antennae. Its prickly body texture adds further intrigue to any marine aquarium, while its active nature has hobbyists clamoring – they scurry around looking for food! Nicknamed “Boxing Shrimp” due to their large pinchers held erect, it may fight other members of its Stenopodidae family but generally leaves fish, corals, and other invertebrates alone. Native to Indonesia, this hardy species doesn’t exceed 3″ with a 6″ antennae when in captivity, making it an ideal fit for an aquarium. Though breeding is rarely successful, its care is relatively straightforward – be sure to regulate nitrate and copper levels, and slowly acclimate! A scavenger, it accepts most flaked and frozen foods in the home aquarium. Prepare to be amazed by the Banded Coral Shrimp!
