Be captivated by the stunning Blue Linckia Sea Star, a must-have for any reef aquarium lover. Its striking blue hue, adorned with pops of red and purple, will surely make it the star attraction. Also known as the Comet Sea Star, Blue Sea Star, or Blue Starfish, this unique creature is sure to add a touch of magic to your tank.
The Blue Linkia Starfish is a vibrant and energetic creature, constantly foraging for food in the sunny areas of the reef and reef fringe. In a home aquarium, it thrives in a well-lit environment with a sandy or coral rubble substrate and plenty of rocky hiding places. Its juvenile form hides in small caves or overhangs, while the mature adult can be seen waving its arms in the water, searching for microscopic organisms. Despite its solitary nature, the Blue Linkia Starfish can coexist with other starfish and friendly fish in an aquarium setting.
The Blue Linkia Starfish is very sensitive to abrupt shifts in oxygen levels, salinity, and pH of the water. It should not be exposed to air during handling and caution should be taken to prevent the presence of Thyca crystallina, a parasitic snail. To promote successful acclimation, drip-acclimation is highly recommended for all Sea Stars. In the wild, these starfish are capable of regenerating from a broken off portion of their body, but this is less common in a home aquarium setting.
Enhance the diet of your Blue Linckia Sea Star with small pieces of clam meat or tablets placed underneath to ensure its optimal health and vitality!
