Bulgarian Green Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) are exotic beauties, having recently made their way to the US hobby only 7-8 years ago. They boast a platinum body, with a lush green hue over its scales. But the real showstopper is their emerald green dorsal and anal fins that set them apart from other Angels. Often referred to as “Bulgarian Seal Point” Angelfish, these easy-going cichlids make excellent tankmates, happily living in almost any community tank. They exhibit tolerance for a wide range of pH values and peaceful behavior with other tetras and cichlids. To aid in breeding, provide them with a vertical, flat surface like an Amazon Sword leaf or a leaning piece of slate against your tank wall. With a bit of care, the fry can survive a few weeks without parental protection. Or, if preferred, eggs and fry can be removed for artificial hatching.
