The Dupla CO2 atomiser is used for CO2 delivery when used with CO2 fertiliser systems in freshwater aquariums up to 250 litres.
With the Dupla CO2 atomiser, CO2 is released into the water in aquariums up to 250 litres. The safe valve integrated into the lower part protects against water flowing back. Before commissioning, the atomiser is first filled with water and attached to the inside of the pane of the aquarium with the suction cup as far down as possible. The deeper the atomiser is placed in the aquarium, the longer the gas bubbles travel to the surface and the more CO2 can be dissolved in the water. The atomiser is connected to the CO2 system via the hose connector. In operation, the lower chamber fills with CO2 gas, from where the CO2 bubbles rise into the upper chamber through the central hole. By counting the bubbles and regulating the CO2 system, the amount of CO2 introduced in the aquarium can be set. The bubbles rise in the middle chamber and leave the atomiser through the porous glass frits into tiny atomised beads. The glass frits need a certain initial pressure at the start of the function due to the accumulating CO2 bubbles and initially release a larger amount of CO2 to the aquarium. While ascending from the tiny gas bubbles, CO2 diffuses into the water, where it is available to the plants, at the same time oxygen and nitrogen dissolved in the water diffuse into the gas bubbles. The bubbles become smaller on the way to the water surface, but do not disappear because they have become air bubbles that contain only a very small amount of CO2. If the endurance test still shows a blue colour after one day, the number of bubbles set must be increased.
