This Golden Maroon Clownfish is a valuable addition to any reef aquarium. Its color range varies from vibrant red to deep maroon, complemented by narrow white stripes, first discovered in the Sumatra area. The golden color of its stripes typically appears after 9-12 months, although the fish are shipped at 6-7 months, exhibiting juvenile white stripes. The gold color starts with the head stripe and develops over time. These popular fish are suitable for aquariums, but they are not compatible with their own species. It is recommended to keep only one in a tank unless a mated pair is obtained. The gold stripe variety is known to be less aggressive compared to the White Striped variety. As one of the largest clownfish species, female adults can reach up to 6 inches in size and have a very long lifespan, with some pairs spawning for over 35 years.
The diet of the Golden Maroon Clownfish, Premnas biaculeatus, includes a variety of meaty foods and herbivore preparations.
