As a highly sought-after species in the fish community, the Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon), also referred to as the Powder Blue Surgeonfish, boasts unique and vibrant coloring, including shades of blue, yellow, and white. Its body has an oval shape and its fins are highlighted with bright yellow. It can be aggressive towards other Tangs or Surgeonfish, and will require a minimum tank size of 125 gallons to provide ample space for swimming. For multiple Powder Blue Tangs in one aquarium, it is recommended to introduce them all at once in a large system, as it may become territorial and aggressive towards similar species.
While Tangs can consume some meat-based foods in the aquarium, it is crucial to provide an ample amount of marine-based seaweed and algae. This dietary addition can boost their immune system, decrease aggression, and enhance their overall well-being. Consider offering dried seaweed attached to a rock or using a veggie clip, and aim for at least three feedings per week.
