The Springer/Blue Sapphire Damselfish, native to Indonesia, exhibits a stunning blue hue with black accented fins. This resilient species is known to darken when threatened, allowing it to escape predators. It is important to note that, like most Chrysiptera damselfish, it may display aggression towards slower tank mates. To mitigate this behavior, provide ample live rock for territorial boundaries and concealment. Suitable for novice aquarists, the Blue Sapphire Damselfish thrives in a saltwater tank of at least 30 gallons and is compatible with corals and invertebrates. As it matures, aggression may increase, especially towards other damselfish. To prevent conflicts, incorporate multiple hiding spots within the live rock. Their diet should consist of high-quality flakes, frozen meats such as brine or mysis shrimp, and occasionally dried seaweed on a feeding clip.
